Since I visited Redeemer in 2007, I have listened to Tim’s sermons regularly. As a new Christian at the time, I would listen to his series on the Reason for God. The sermons challenged me to ask honest questions about God and helped me understand how the Gospel is relevant in a secular, postmodern world.
Since I became a Christian, I have been with a Korean church that focuses only on evangelism. At times, I felt the incredible pressure to live up to a high standard. I felt the law condemns me, every day. It was Keller’s series on the Prodigal God which sets me free from legalism. I realize that I am lost through my disobedience and obedience. What I need is the love of the true older brother.
His book “Every Good Endeavor” enabled me to see the relationship between faith and work. I don’t need to compartmentalize faith to be just about what I do on Sundays. Faith changes everything, including my work, every day of the week.
In 2012, Keller’s sermons encouraged me to serve in the youth group and later pursue my study in theology. His vision on city renewal helps me see the need not only for individual salvation but also Gospel transformation.
I am grateful for the privilege to learn under Dr. Keller’s teachings. May God continue to bless this ministry.
